• Followers of Christ enjoy being redeemed from sin and having a knowledge that they will enter eternal life after their life on this earth is finished. However, how do we live as followers of Christ in this world? How do we conquer our daily sins? How do we experience God’s eternal plan today and each day in our human existence? It is difficult if we don’t clearly know what to believe and haven’t purposely and intentionally engaged in the process of renewing our minds. We must define our core values as followers of Jesus Christ! In this new edition of Discovering Your Core Values the writers have added processing exercises to help the reader develop and establish life-giving core values. Now one can more easily engage in the process of discovering and developing biblical core values. This process enables us to enter into a life of living free and full while being a fruitful disciple and follower of Jesus Christ! Also, in this edition, guidelines are offered for processing within a small group.

More Americans than ever are counting themselves among the “nones”—the cohort of Americans who are not necessarily atheistic, but who do not claim allegiance to a particular religious system. The key question is: why? Consider that the nation’s three main educational systems—the mainstream media, entertainment, and the university system—lean to the political left and typically paint an inaccurate picture of what Christianity truly is. With this in mind, Billy Hallowell skillfully explores how society’s main educational avenues fail to deliver fair-minded content and how their biases are reinforcing negative values and fueling the rise of the “nones.” Hallowell also offers practical steps for all Christians to take and provides advice on how to respond to these growing problems.

A home ripped apart by one spouse leaving reverberates with a host of unanswered questions. Simple answers don’t exist—heartrending complexities do. In the midst of the turmoil, reconciliation may seem out of reach. But there is still hope for those who are willing to fight for their marriages. In this transformative guide, men and women who are separated but hopeful for restoration will discover life-changing truths about God, themselves, and their marriages. Linda W. Rooks explores practical answers for men and women in the midst of a marriage crisis, guiding them step by step toward hope and a positive outcome, even when fighting for the marriage alone. After finding hope, strength, and encouragement for their marriages in Rooks's first book, Broken Heart on Hold, many readers continue on their journeys with new questions as they take the next step. Fighting for Your Marriage While Separated begins where Broken Heart on Hold left off, continuing to guide readers through the labyrinths of separation, this time with practical answers to their questions. From diving into topics such as relationship dynamics and healing, protecting children, and praying for restoration, to deciding on boundaries and learning to live with the same spouse in a new marriage, Rooks illustrates what reconciling and rebuilding a marriage looks like—and how the sweet intimacy of Christ is in the waiting. Through biblical wisdom, the personal experience of navigating toward her own marital restoration after a three-year separation, and eleven years of ministry to marriages in crisis, author Linda W. Rooks offers hope to many who feel hopeless by sharing true stories, practical answers, and Scripture-based truth to guide readers along their journeys toward wholeness.

Bill Christman had always been an affectionate and confident child, but when he entered first grade he began to be plagued with anxieties and fears. From the moment he awoke, his mind was filled with a single thought: Something bad is going to happen. Over time, he found release in rage and became a serious behavioral problem. By high school, he was getting drunk, fighting all the time, in trouble with the law and, eventually, homeless. He began to seriously consider ending his life. In despair, Bill begged God for help. He began attending Alcoholics Anonymous, became sober and got his life on track, but the feeling that he was somehow defective remained. It wasn't until 2002 that Bill began to understand the source of his shame and fear. When Bill's father died when he was six, a Catholic priest had offered to be a father figure for him and his older brother. Now, memories long repressed of how that priest had sexually abused him began to come to the surface. Forgiving the Catholic Church tells the account of Bill's incredible journey. It is a story not only of the tragic effects of his abuse but also how he was able to overcome his circumstances and, with the help of others, forgive the priest who had abused him. It is also a story of how God reached into his life at his lowest points and lifted him up-just as He does with each of us today.

This book is a reflective look back over the past few years; lessons learned, battles fought and victories won. This is a book about recovery; a topic many will relate to, regardless of your faith perspective. I found the Scripture to be a source of great encouragement, but perhaps not for the reason one might immediately conclude. What I discovered were accounts of real people with very human issues. I was encouraged to find that God did not abandon when others did. They overcame moments of great personal defeat, and came out the other side stronger, and bigger people. In writing this, I made a very deliberate attempt to, 1) not to dwell on specific situations from my life, as I wanted lessons and conclusions to have a wide range of applications. 2) I was careful to not gloss over Biblical accounts. I wanted to show the human dynamics of real people and the real issues they faced. All of us desert wanders look for clues to help on the journey called life. I hope this will be a few trail clues to help you get to 'the other side of disappointment'.
